7zip Theme Manager

7-zip Theme Manager

If you have seen my alternative 7-zip icons I made and have liked them and wanted to use them then I have something even better to tell you about and that is the new 7-Zip Theme Manager built by Mark “KillerCookie” Keller and Marco “MAD’S evilution” which goes even further than just replacing the icons, it provide the ability for you to also replace the overall look of 7-zips file manager and its icons with many themes and file type icons to choose from. The Theme Manager is available direct from the developers web site at http://killercookie-server.media-xshell.com/7zTM/index.php?cat=01_English, simply select the ‘Download’ menu item and download the latest version.  The program does not install, simply unpack it and run the 7zTM.exe file to start the Theme Manager.  It will ask to verify where 7-zip is installed and then you can set your desired theme for the file manager and the file types.  It really is a great little application.

The File Manager allows you to choose from quite a few different styles simply to make what is normally a very bland looking 7-zip into a much better visually nice icon set and layout.

The file types manager, which include mine also has again a number of different icon choices for you to use, which like my own set are a much better visual identification of  T all the various file types that 7-zip is capable of managing and using.

    Thanks for the posts, Greg.

I have been trying to use your updates to change the 7-zip icons, but I have not had any luck. I started with the ver 2 update to change icons, followed by an attempt with ver 3. Finally I got to this post. With the Theme Manager I am able to change the toolbar theme. When I try to change the icons, they remain as they are.

    Using 7-zip ver 9.20.0
    OS Windows 7 professional SP1 32bit.

Hi, you might want to check out the 7 zip theme manager via my post here http://thatnetsite.com/2011/04/7-zip-theme-manager/ . This provides access to my icons plus many other variations as well 🙂

EDIT – sorry re read your comment, you have already tried the Theme Manager, can I suggest that win Windows 7 you run the Theme Manager as Admin, right click on the Theme Manager icon and select run as Administrator. It will then allow you to apply the changes.

    Cheers

    Greg

    Hi,
I’ve tried to update icon in “Greg’s Icon” folder with new icon for missing extension (eg.: .tgz ) .

I copied new icon in Greg’s Icon folder, but new icon there aren’t visible on .tgz file.

How do I update the icons in the folders “filetype” or “toolbar”

    Thank for all .

    Hi Greg,

I am on Vista and I followed all the instructions but can’t get the icons to work.

I have run the Theme Manager and picked Greg’s icons but to no avail.

I only use 7zip and nothing else and they look ugly without a proper icon,

    Anything else I could try?

    Thank You

    Danny

I’ve tested this on XP, Vista and Windows 7 so not sure why it would not work for you. Make sure you open 7-zip as administrator and go into the file extension section and select all to be managed by 7-zip. Then log make the changes as per this post and finally log off and log back in again, it should work.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I got them all working now except “.zip”.

That one sticks to me like glue:

If I knew where to find it on my computer i could change it but I failed to find it.

    Thank You
